Happy New Year Friends!

Hi, It’s Sondra here, wishing you a Happy New Year!   This is my 2nd New Year with my new family.   I hope all the animals rescued at this year’s Animal Friend’s New Year’s rescue find a great forever home! 

Fun in the Fall…

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who reads my blog. I get so excited when someone comments and tells me how proud they are of me. (I know… I’m SUCH a ham that way!) I STILL hate cameras though; something about flashes in my past scared me and I just shake at the sight of a camera.

Today I entertained my Mom and Dad by instigating a play session with my little sister, Somerset. All I have to do is lift my paw and bang her on the head to get things started. We gently wrestled each other for about 10 minutes while Mom took a break from work.

The rainy weather gets me down (I just CANNOT pee when it’s raining!), but today was a “funner” day. Gotta run now, it’s time for DIN-NER! Happy OCTOBER my friends!!

The End of Summer

Well everyone, it’s been a wonderful summer! This was my second summer in my new home and I’m feeling simply great. Last summer I was still learning the ropes about trusting humans but now I feel like a REAL dog. I bark. I run around the yard. I LUV to go for walks. I love my couch. I love my parents. I love mealtimes. I love my sisters Sparkle and Somer (even though she’s VERY annoying sometimes). I’m even more “adventurous” (for me that is). I will approach people as long as Mom tells me it’s ok to trust them. I met two little boys a few weeks ago (Bill’s grandsons). Liam was SOOOO sweet to me and I even let him take me for a couple of walks. When I got a little nervous, he stopped and petted me until I felt better. Mom was always close by but I even lost track of her.

I’m sad that the summer is over now, but I hope to go for lots of walks during the fall season (when it’s not so HOT!).

HAPPY LABOR DAY everyone!!

My sister went to the small dog social!!!

Can you believe it? Mom took my sister Somerset to the doggie social on Sunday and I-didn’t-go! I got to chill and hang with Dad AT home and ON-MY-COUCH! (When Mom is home, I sometimes let her sit with me).

I am so proud of Somer. I heard she was scared at first, but got better as the hour went on.

A note from Sondra’s Mom…

Well Sondra finally agreed to let me write a post on “her” blog:
When I adopted Sondra, the adoption counselors told me that it would take about a year till Sondra felt truly “comfortable” with us. It’s been 14 months and we STILL see little changes in her every day. She seems so much more relaxed and happy. She roams around the house more and is more “adventurous.” With the nicer weather, Bill has been sitting outside on the deck in the mornings when reading his paper. The first day Sondra was curious and hung by the door, but it didn’t take her long at all to decide to check it out. I love her “happy dances” in the mornings and at walk time. She’s turned out to be such a nice addition to our family — we really love her!

Happy Spring!

Hi all,
So sorry I haven’t blogged lately, but I’ve been off enjoying my life. Things have been going great! I’ve been going on lots of walks (woo-hoo!) and I’m still coming out of my shell. I thrilled Mom the other day when I did a “play bow” and then jumped in the air and flipped myself around in a circle (she’s so easy to please, eh?). I’ve been feeling happier and more confident that this IS my for-ever-home and not just a dream! My ears are held high and I wag my tail alot these days. Today when we walked, I “woofed” at the neighbors. I happily dance around in the morning when Mom gets up and it’s time for my breakfast and potty break; I dance around when it’s time for a walk; sometimes I dance around for no reason at all! LIFE IS GOOD!!

Small Dog Social – March 30, 2011

Well, as many of you know, I went to the small dog social today. When I first arrived, I felt fine, and I even socialized for about 20 minutes. AND, I played with a big white dog (he was cute and I *think* he liked me! ) But then I started having flashbacks and I got very uptight and nervous. I was scared my Mom might leave me there and I’d have to start all over again looking for a forever home.

Once I got into the car, I was able to relax again and I slept on Mom’s lap all the way home. I was so relieved that I was going back home!!

It was great to see everyone. I’m sorry if I seem a little anti-social… but I know all who know me understand, so thank you for that!

Houdini-Dog

I have discovered that I can *disappear* from the dog run. Mom left us outside and went to the front to take Somer on her potty break, an when she came back, I was G.O.N.E.! Yep, I am HOUDINI-DOG!! Hee hee.

… Don’t worry, I didn’t go anywhere bad. I just went on my old path to the front porch. I thought I could figure out how to open the door and let myself in, but that wasn’t as easy as the gate. So, I patiently waited for Mommy to figure out where I was and let me into the house. Can you imagine her face when she went to get us and I was missing? Ha ha… aren’t I the mischievious one?

Well, it was fun even if I could only do it once. I probably won’t be able to get out again though because Mom saw how I did it, and now she ties the gate shut if she’s going back into the house.

HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!! We went for a long walk the other day… boy it was nice to feel the grass on my paws and smell the fresh Spring air. I know it’s going to get cold again later this week, but BRING ON SPRING!!

Just a short note to say hello!

Hello friends!
I know it’s been a long time since I’ve updated my blog. I’ve been, well… kind of hibernating but now I’m READY FOR SPRING! (coz that means long WALKS in the sunshine!)

Things are good here. Somer, the puppy, is now about 10 months old. And I have been in my forever home now for just about a year now (March 20, 2010 was the day I went into foster).

Since my family doesn’t know my exact birthdate, we will be celebrating my birthdays on APRIL 3 (luckiest day of my life — the day I was adopted! )
UPDATE: Dad wants to celebrate my birthday on 3/20, the day I moved from Animal Friends to my forever home (even though I didn’t know it was forever yet – hee hee) In all seriousness, it doesn’t matter to me WHEN we celebrate!! I’ll take a Frosty Paw any-time-someone-wants-to GIVE me one!

Hope to see everyone in the Spring! I’m planning on coming to Animal Friends to visit sometime!!
